The Lakota people were constantly curious. We sought to understand all the goings on, all around us. We enjoyed this disposition and our language exemplified this as it was colorfully descriptive, yet exact in its beauty and ability to communicate.
Sitting Bull School is keenly aware of the edge; the edge of linguistically loosing it all. This is a critical issue for all people but especially for our students and community because we as an educational entity, have the responsibility to intercede for the Lakota language and the people.
To this end, Sitting Bull School is publishing learning materials on the Web with which, we hope, will make the task of reading, writing, thinking, and fluently speaking the Lakota language much easier. Please enjoy what you see on this website and please make comments for us to improve. |
